TO ALL pensioners and vulnerable people in Plymouth; I know a place this winter where you can have an en suite heated room, with comfortable bed, rug, curtains, television, games console, room service: no heating/electric/gas/ community charge/rent to pay: two- course hot meals a day. You will be given, tax-free, £10 to £15 per week to spend as you wish in the shop provided in-house so that you do not have to go out in the cold weather. Of course you don't have to work; you can stay in your room all day watching television; the only distraction to this routine is that you will have to collect your own meals. You will still get your pocket money, and there is a super gymnasium for you to enjoy.
This is the upside. The downside? Your family will have to come to you, and you will need to pick your talking companion carefully during your stay, but if you are a loner and prefer your own company you don't have to pick a companion. Where is this wonder place? A prison cell.
On a serious note, don't neglect yourselves this winter, Always eat and heat your homes; be a little prudent but don't go without.
There are many places to go to get warm; use your bus pass to go on long trips; visit attractions like other city museums or libraries – read the daily papers, all free; visit cafes, shopping malls; go in groups so you are not alone, to have a coffee, or do some people- watching; go to the magistrates'/Crown courts as a spectator. Visit the Civic Centre spectators gallery (hear what our councillors have got planned for you). Visit each others' homes as a group; chip in and have a meal together. There are many other places that you can go; use your imagination.
All of these places have one thing in common; they are all warm. It is against the law to have a public building below a certain temperature.

Most of all, don't be cold, and eat.
