The fire brigade were called around 7:30pm after a fire broke out in the ground floor of 4 High Street, opposite the Somerfields car park entrance.

Four fire engines, two ambulances and the police attended the scene, as the high street had to be cordoned off for several hours.

The fire, which seemed to have started on the ground floor of the building, had blown away most of the glass from the front windows.

Devon and Cornwall police have confirmed the fire was an accident.
