THE Taw and Exmoor branch of the British Naturalists' Association had another successful bird watching trip to the Exe Estuary. Some 79 different species of birds were seen from Dawlish Warren and Powderham round to the RSPB reserve at Bowling Green Marsh in Topsham. There was a large flock of avocets on the Exe, but close-up views were obtained on the River Clyst. Down at Dawlish Warren, the best part of 2,000 oystercatchers were standing on a sandbank waiting for the tide to turn.
