It is so nice to have a proper supermarket in Dawlish, I wish we had Sainsbury's years ago.

What do people think about the new Sainsbury's supermarket?

Like most people (even if they won't admit it) much of my family's food shopping is done at a big supermarket so not having to drive so far saves money and time.

However there are some things they don't sell that I can get at shops such as Poppadums and nobody can beat the doughnuts at Wee Shoppe!

So handy but not the be all and end all.

I think in the space available they have a very good range of products. They are good at opening more checkouts when they see queues forming, so generally service is very good.

I know several people who said they would never shop there as they would only support local shops in Dawlish, however, I have seen them at ALL at Sainsburys and they admit plenty of parking and being able to buy everything they need in one place just can't be ignored.
The bus service is popular, a couple of disabled people I know say the bus stop there makes it easy for them to shop at Sainsburys.

All Sainsburys need to do now is pay for the Stand to be pedestrianised so wiping out what little competition they still have.

The Co-op had years to provide a decent supermarket in Dawlish and couldn't be bothered, now it's too late.

I do have sympathy for the likes of Bastins and Sampsons, as I'm sure the range of stationery and electrical goods must affect them, those are local shops I still support whenever possible in preference to Sainsburys.
