Hi Guys, This is the first time posting so please bear with us, we live in Dawlish Warren on Devon View Estate (back of geralds superstore) and apparently the whole estate is riddled with damp or mould (Whatever the difference???) now we have a problem with our main bedroom wall overlooking the car park, Its like black speckly marks and lines, we showed the landlords and they blamed Convector heaters and condensation, and told us to keep windows open. Guess what? They are always open and the convector heaters are not always on, so we were advised to wipe down first with luke warm soapy water first which spread it, so the landlord whom happens to reside in Portugal gave us a cheap small tin of Wilkinsons Damp Proof Paint, bear in mind you can't use a roller it says on the tin and the wall is well over 20 foot long so it wouldn't be enough. Does anyone know of a cheap Painter & Decorator willing to give a cheap Quotation and buy the proper stuff to remedy the situation? We would do it ourselves but the missus suffers bad Asthma so will get on her chest and to be honest I'm fed up of arguing about it. CROWN MANAGEMENT whom maintain Devon View looked at it and said thats not condensation so if you know of anyone to give us some quotations, buy the materials and do the job? will keep supplied with Tea, Coffee and Biscuits lol.

Hi Paul,

I am on the board at Devonview so happy to help you get this resolved.

Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your flat. A few of the flats have had issues with condensation in the past although I havn't had any issues in mine.

You will probably want to ask the landlord about getting a Dehumidifer to help with the issues you are having. Also, make sure the wall is free from furniture.

One flat had issues with damp in the bedroom and it was found there was a small leak so it might be more than condensation. Once fixed the issue went away.

I have setup a tempoary email address valid for 24 hours (dont want to advertise my real one here!) so if you could email your contact details and flat number I am happy to discuss your issues further.

Many Thanks

Thanks Adrian,

Got a Painter & Decorator coming over from Torquay tomorrow to see if he can sort it out. Joined Builders.Com and got a response from him. He is aware I am on a budget, and all findings if any i will report to you.

Paul
