Have to say I'm not surprised. I travelled by train from Dawlish to N.Abb the other week. It was a very high tide and whilst waiting for train I could see that the waves were lapping at the sea wall and spray was going over onto the track.

And the weather on that day was quite calm..............

I thought they are considering opening up the inland  route to Plymouth and trust of our Prime Minister?

Government has said it will make an announcement concerning the future of the rail network in the south west in its Autumn statement - which usually takes place beginning of December.

It's a shame that the paper doesn't check the facts. No trains were cancelled this morning. Waves were not crashing into trains - spray was. This is the same as every winter - no need for scaremongering.

It was a colossal sight, though, water at least 50 feet high over the station as I drove through about 09:50.

Judith. One train was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, the rest because of train faults. Also you are spot on with your post. @Lynne, its Wednesday December 3rd.
