On Saturday 06/12/2014 at approximately 13.00 a male called an elderly lady stating he was from social services. He stated that They are dealing with all the elderly in Dawlish and its to do with the medication that they take and what was wrong with them. The conversation went on for about an hour and it moved onto sales of "pomyvit" for £36.00 and he would let her have it for £14.95. The lady offered to send a cheque but the male, in a friendly manner that they only take cards. and asked for the details The details were refused. the number given was 02079934474.

A local officer called the number and a foreign male answered and stated they were from a company sounding like Whitebeing. There was then a lot of rustling noises and the call was terminated. further attempts where made to call the number but an automated message of mailbox 442079934474.

It is believed that this is a scam to vulnerable elderly people.

Please pass this onto anyone who you know who is vulnerable. If they have any concerns or are not sure, encourage them to attend Open Daw on Friday 12th December where your local neighbourhood Team will be in attendance to help anyone with concerns on this subject.

Bizarre.  Why would the police issue such a vague warning when you only have to google the phone number to trace them.
