People visiting a south Devon beach have been allowed back into the water after a pollution incident. Teignbridge District Council is liaising with the Environment Agency to find out what caused the pollution at Coryton Cove, Dawlish. A bathing ban was put in place on Wednesday after some tests discovered unacceptable levels of some pollutants. Swimmers were allowed back into the water on Friday after further tests found that water quality had improved. The council said the bathing ban was regrettable, particularly as it was discovered just before the start of a busy Bank Holiday weekend. It is the second successive summer that a Dawlish beach has suffered a pollution incident. Last year, Dawlish Town Beach was closed when water quality there fell below safety standards.
