Joshua Lodge and Richard Fish had been at a drugs party in Dawlish and when their supplies ran out they set off armed with a imitation pistol, meat cleaver and baseball bat to try to steal some more.
They attacked innocent victim Denny Carey as he opened his front door and when he fought back they dragged him into the street where he was repeatedly slashed by Lodge.
