A few days ago on a walk passed Boat Cove I noticed the emergency phone had been removed for maintenance. The nearest one is nearly half a mile away. Would it not have been wiser to have had a replacement put in its place rather than just take it away! Thanks BT.

That may be so in an ideal world but with so many mobile phones around I wouldn't even go looking for an emergency phone, I'd be running towards people to make the call, and even then it would be exceptional that I didn't have my own phone on me.

@Netiquette - bravo, there are so few super hero's left in the world who have their own mobile communications array. i presume your mobile provider gives you 100 percent coverage 24/7!

Mobile phones can make emergency calls via any available network not just the elected provider so yes, chances are there is likely to be mobile coverage 24/7.   But in your worst case scenario of the entire mobile network being shut down at the moment an emergency occurred, my guess is you're more likely to come across a landline within 200 yards of Boat Cove than you would in many other places.   So for me at least,  I'm not outraged.
