CAUTION: BUSINESS OWNERS

All business owners in the Teignmouth, Dawlish and Newton Abbot areas, please be alert to a male attempting to distract staff in shops and then attempting to steal money from the till.

The male is distracting shop staff with stories involving his mother who had left something in the store and requesting staff to help look for it. When vacating the till area, he will attempting to gain access to tills and take the cash contents.

Currently he has obtained over £200 through doing this. We are advising shop owners and staff to be cautious of this male and to contact the police should they suspect any suspicious activity with the male.

He is described as a white male, approximately 5 ft. 10 in – 6 ft.; aged between 30-40 years and of stocky build. He has short, light brown hair (or wearing a black beanie hat), dark rimmed glasses and usually wear a black zip-up jacket. He is very polite and well-spoken.
