An accident involving a car and a motorcycle has partially blocked the Exeter Road at Dawlish. The accident on the A379 outside Marine Garage is causing disruption to traffic in both directions.
Exeter's Paris Street and High Street have been closed to traffic whilst shops are being evacuated after reports of an explosion at the Giraffe Restaurant in Princesshay. Friends and family of a missing Dawlish woman are appealing for her to make contact. Gillian Roberts, 54, was reported missing by friends on Tuesday evening after she failed to answer her door at around 9pm. She is described as 5ft 11in tall and of slim build. Huge quantities of sand at Dawlish Warren's beach is thought to have been blown away and washed over to neighbouring Exmouth. It is feared it could leave the area vulnerable to flooding and also damage the local tourist industry. The Environment Agency said consultants were looking into the problem.
