Wednesday July 19th ! this is the first I've heard about this. Cannot believe people just happen to walk around with iron bars, is there more to this than I'm reading?

The lack of officer's on the beat and the attitude you get from some of the police operator's on 101/999...if you don't get put on hold would seem to give criminals an air of confidence as they go about their business in my opinion.

I agree DEE. This is a town that has no Law and certainly no order. Smackheads and drunks just go about their daily business each and every day in public places with impunity. Calling 101 is, as you say in this country "not fit for purpose"

@Brooklyn Bridge - agree, the d.d&d.c seem more active since the prohibition signs went up than they were before. i see these people! on a daily basis around the lawn, not just once in a blue moon.

What's the town council doing about this a.s.b.o...............not a lot I expect.

Unless there is something we have not been told then I don't understand why the police are treating this as a race hate attack.  There could be any number of reasons behind this incident.

Is what happens (or not) on the lawn the concern/responsibility of the town council?

Would have thought that if something against the law happens on the Lawn the police would have to be involved, depends on what is classed as criminal activity these days.

re: monty's comment.

The dawlish gazette and more especially the dawlish post are only there to show charity raising photos and other "good news". They have no backbone as regards stating an opionion about whats good for dawlish to ANY councilers or MPS probably because of potential loss of avdertising revenue. The "editor "only makes vague comments when it should be shouting fromthe rooftops  about local issues e.g crime-housing overdevelopment, local politices etc, they allow people like Mel Srtide and co to waffle on about what they did in parliment this week instead of pinning them down on local concerns are not getting fixed - similiarly the same easy reporting attitude to poilce superintendents crime responses, who keep saying we are on top of things etc etc ( 27% increase in dawlish crime) expect a blah blah blah explaination from them soon. How many times do you read anyone with information to contact police, hint to police -get more bobbies on the beat.

We pay a fortune for a "crime commisioner" from council rates who really is a waste of space and sadly my rate money. Along this veil of thought in this weeks dawlish post CLLR  Terry Falco waffels on about the Anne Morris incident instead of manning up and getting on with the job he is supposed to be doing e.g fixing local issues.!!!! Note to CLLR  Falco  this issue is in now even passed being a paper wrapper for fish and chips, get on and fix the problems without trying to score political points.

Thank you for your attention, i will now step down from my soap box.

@Cassandra - not a lot i expect from the lack of police activity in enforcing the prohibition notices on the lawn.

The prohibition of consuming alcohol, drugs is infringed on a daily/nightly basis plus the foul language and drunken boxing matches that take place on a regular basis, in full view of Dawlish residents and holiday makers.

Last night a number of folk from the theatre drinking wine by the brook maybe they didn't think the prohibition notice applied to them.
