This chap makes a good point, pasted from the letters section of the E & E. REGARDING the story Figures show big drop in city crime as tough targets are surpassed, Echo, August 23 — strange how difficult it is to report a minor crime now. A massive fall? So I would expect not to see cars with their windows smashed, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour, such as cycling on pavements, etc. These figures are based on reported crimes surely. Most people, after a "we will get back to you" response and they don't, prefer not to waste their time reporting minor crimes any more. I am sorry, I would believe the insurance industry's statistics on car crime in preference to these. David O'Brien
