Just had the offical decision sent to me from the Planning Inspectorate - Tesco's Appeal has been dismissed.
Although.........the Planning Inspector does make mention of the Barton Hill car park site as a possible place for a supermarket to be sited. He points out that the slope of the site would lend itself to a 2/3 storey development with car-parking either underneath or on the roof top.
Great news Dawlish is on the up common sense prevails, anyone with half a brain knows it would have killed the town, dont expect the chicken nugget brigade to understand!!
Tesco in the Barton Hill car park, excellent idea, let's hope Tesco put in a planning application ASAP, although I don't think there is enough space for a decent size store and car parking. Would be nice to have a LIDL nearby as well so Dawlish residents can have some shopping choice at long last.
Oh dear, so Tesco lost their appeal. Now the council will have to do something about the state of the road leading to Lady's Mile. I would imagine they have been waiting to see if Tesco's got the goahead so they would then repaire the road etc.
This is good news !!! Ziggy after all the lorries have passed along that road re Sainsburys I should imagine it will be down to them to cough up towards the resurfacing.
I can't believe that they're seriously considering the Barton car park as a site for a supermarket. Just imagine 40 tonne lorries coming along the Brunswick at 2am & unloading all through the night. Not to mention depriving the town of much-needed parking spaces. We'll never get any visitors staying in the town without adequate parking facilities. One supermarket on the edge of town seems quite sufficient for everybody's needs to me.
Hmmm - Tesco in the Barton Hill car park - I hope not! Not Tesco nor any other store. As a town centre resident who would be affected by this, I completely agree with Casandra's comments.
