summertime is bbq time, but that doesn't have to mean charred sausages and burnt steaks
spruce up you bbq, add to your list of dishes this summer with some of my favourites
this one is a great favourite from the USA, that the kids will love and so will the child in all of us. It is best made the day before and reheated on the bbq
they are messy, messy, messy .... but delicious and great fun

| onion | 1 | pc |
| optional - garlic clove | 1 | pc |
| optional - chilli | 1/2 | pc |
| mince | 500 | gm |
| tinned chopped tomatoes | 1 | pc |
| frozen mixed diced vegetables | 1 | cup |
| burger buns | 1 | pkt |
- melt butter over a medium heat
- add the chopped onion and garlic and chilli (if using)
- cook gently until onion is softened
- add the mince and cook over a high heat until the meat is slightly browned
- reduce heat and add the tomatoes and vegetables (from frozen)
- gently simmer for approx. 30 minutes until the mixture has thickened and the vegetables are cooked
- taste and season as required (a stock cube may be added if preferred)
- remove from heat, allow to cool and refrigerate overnight
- reheat thoroughy on the bbq while your cooking the other meats
- toast the top and bottom of the burger buns, and serve the mince sandwiched between them
- serve with plenty of paper towels and enjoy the messiness of it all
