On a recent visit to Dawlish, it was great to see how well the well-maintained patch of grass at the top end of the lawn (between the bandstand and the bowling green) was being used. Three different groups of children of varying age groups were having fun playing ball games, a number of families were having a picnic and a group of creative arts types were decorating a large canvas. It was a ...

Owing to the restricted space on the sea wall and the sheer drop, cyclists are a danger to themselves and law-abiding people who walk/jog along the route. Well done to the police for acting on the growing concerns about a selfish minority of cyclists. To be fair, most cyclists realise that councils have bent over backwards to provide cycle lanes, expensive scenic routes (Powderham - Turf) so they ...

This is really sad news. I saw this show up at the Warren car boot sale field a few years back and it was great entertainment. I guess a daredevil show brings with it a massive amount of risk, but this sounds like a dreadful tragedy and you wonder if it could have been avoided.

For the record, I think you can keep both cyclists and walkers happy if it's done in the right ...

As someone who visits Dawlish twice a year on holiday, I sincerely hope there will be no attempt to amalgamate the cycle route with the sea wall walking route. The peace and tranquility of walking along the sea wall – Dawlish’s unique selling point in my opinion – would be ruined forever if you were having to step aside for cyclists every 30 seconds. Anyone who doubts this theory should try ...
