Do we know whether the old bridge is to be removed in one piece or not. If it is how are they proposing to undertake the task ? Also are they bringing in the new bridge by rail and using a rail crane to install ? All very interesting and essential to record the progress of the scheme. If you have any further information as regards the  definite dates for removal and installation of the bridges I ...

UGLY DUCKLINGS!
11 May 2012

This will surprise ! The information on which my comments were made was obtained from the warden who is keen that previous unsatisfactory situation does not arise again and that he does not have to sell any of the next brood. Lets see how things develop - I am sure he knows best !

Undoubtedly the towns main asset and tourist draw are the black swans and the waterfowl centre - and may it remain so. The warden is excellent and cares greatly about his charges. However the big draw with the swans is their ugly ducklings !. So imagine the disappointment when the recent big four had to be sold and the injured parents put back in the pen due to rejection and fighting because the ...

Money down the drain

The drainage pump under the road at the end of Tucks Plot is being raised, cleared and lowered on a very regular basis. This involves the use of a large crane and a five man team for several hours at what must be a significant financial cost to the taxpayer. The contractor team informed me that unless people are educated as to what they should flush then their activity will be regular, ongoing and ...

The town could really use a quality hotel however as a plan B replacing Harrisons amusements with a non Lloyds Wetherspoons sounds a good second bet.

Well Done to the Council ! The palms in Tucks plot have been tidied up and the whole plot looks well for the Jubliee. Now lets hope that the drain pump in the main road next to tucks plot does not get blocked and the huge Crane togethether with its five man team join in the festivities. The unblocking of the pump appears to be a very regular ongoing expensive activity and . excuse the pun, is a ...

Town Centre

If the proposals for the Strand are going to lead to a dead centre for the town then the numerous dead palm trees in Tucks plot will form a suitable backdrop.!

The residentsof Brookdale Terrace are pleased that their outlook over Tucks Plot has been improved by the gardeners tidying the shrubs. However the brown Norwegian palms remain. With the coming dIamond anniversary celebrations and the lighting of beacon these dead palms could serve some useful purpose. Surely with the improvements to the viaduct and the new footbridge we would not want our ...

WOW ! - The Norwegian palms have now attracted a migrating Norwegian parrot ! Cannot miss it since like the palms it is pretty inactive . In fact to the delight of the twitchers. who themselves are not to spritely and are ' spotting it ' on their way to the Palm Court, the parrot has one foot nailed to the palm. This information needs to be imparted to the guerilla gardeners who should it into ...

No it is the anomalous variety of the deceaseuous family, in that it does not automatically shed its dead fonds in the winter but has evolved to rely on designated local public servants to complete its recycling process. In effect like many things these days they are patiently awaiting the chop !
