Maybe it's just me ... but for the last few days I get a red message box "500 - Internal server error" when I try to connect to www.dawlish.com.  Using Chrome on XP Pro. Tried using Firefox this a.m. and it seems to be OK. Anyone else ?

The crane has arrived
11 Sep 2014

Spotlight last night (I think I've got this right) was saying we can expect a second platform/crane to turn up alongside this one.  Don't know when.  But it still looks as though we won't get our seawall walk back till January (assuming no more storms !).

Red Arrows

Had to miss the Air Show this year, sadly.  But, as I was coming out of the Smugglers yesterday about 6-ish, who should fly over but the Red Arrows, in two tight groups of four and five.  Their website says they were flying at Dartmouth y'day evening so I guess that's where they were heading.  Funny thing was, absolutely no-one else even looked up.  Old hat, I suppose ... but I enjoyed seeing ...

OK HuwMatthews2, I'm not a native so you know better than I do. Red Rock is not a good name anyway, on a coast made of red sandstone !

No (cross fingers).  Which transmitter are you on, Carer ?

Langstone Rock IS Red Rock, as far as locals are concerned.  The rock at Boat Cove is Cowhead Rock or something like that, I believe.

A shameless plug for the closing performance of this year's (61st !) annual Dawlish Arts Festival.  At 7:30 Saturday 28th June, in the parish church, a concert including the first great English opera, Purcell's "Dido & Aeneas".  Bit of a rarity, don't miss it.  £9 (under 18s £2 only).

Hate the name "Cultural Pavilion" (sounds like something from North Korea) but very much in favour of a venue, or set of venues, where performances can be put on.  At the moment we have (1) the Shaftesbury (the only venue with a stage, lights etc), (2) the Manor House and (3) various churches and their attendant halls (including the Strand Centre in that class).  Most of these are uncomfortable, ...

Red-eye from Bristol !?  We're flying from Exeter next week with Flybe - and that's at 0700, which doesn't sound too bad but when you add in two hours' check-in time ...
