The local paper tells us the delay is the fault of Tesco's who are attempting legal manoevering to thwart the Sainsbury's build. Wish they'd shut up and let us have our supermarket. Thanks a bunch Tesco!

I've always found Sainsburys to be far more expensive than Tescos, what about you? I think I'd still do my shopping online with Tesco or Asda even if we did have a Sainsburys.

The idea of Sainsbury commimg to Dawlish dosnt really excite me.

Would rather stick with Iceland,Asda or Tesco.

For me Asda is the best I have my shop delivered.. good prices, nice delivery staff.
I am quite surprised really any supermarket would want to open near Dawlish, perhaps they are not aware of the constant negativity, but shopping habits dicatate sales will be from a 12 miles radius, people will always go away from their doorstep. Gather people in Newton go to Torquay etc.

Tescos defonatly one for me, lower prices and better value and clubcard points, and normally a petrol station - if were lucky.

apparently the delay is due to tesco taking legal action based on our beloved councillors not being told that a refusal had been given to another supermarket (Somerfield) back in 2006 to build on land at Shutterton Bridge, i remember this it looked good primary school, nursing home, pub, social housing etc. this would have been of benift to everyone in the area. i would like the supermarket at ladys mile nearer to everybody and in a prime tourist area would be easier for them to shop and then maybe the co-op would have some stock left for us people that dont want to go that far. i shop local most of the time but stil go to asda / tescos / sainsburys occasionally to stock up things i want at a price i can afford that the co-op doesnt have not very much variety. meat and veg i always get from lloyd maunder and stokes. see today gazette
