Just found the line up . Hmmm, if belinda carlisle is the headliner then the whole thing is doomed to failure. Sorry but this is a woman who usually plays venues of less then 500 these days, and they tend to be part of a meal/singer /comedian type evening. Bay City rollers may still fill a 1000 seat hall, at a push, but have no appeal at all to most people. Myself i couldnt think of anything worse. Aswad, are you having a laugh...this is devon not the caribean carnival. Modern Romance, were never that big in the 1st place and certainly wont be a crowd puller now. As i said before it will be lucky to pull in 2,000-3,000 a day. Even if they all appeared on one day you would not get more than 5or 6 thousand attending. There are so many decent bands and singers still around from that era that still pull a crowd in, unfortunately none have been booked.

they will need a lot bigger names than that to justify those prices. you need a mid range act to draw the young ones, pigeon detectives would nail it as a headliner

No its not for charity....a percentage of any profits will go to charity. The rest of any profits will go to Ambercoast. As for me doing it myself. I dont claim to be an events co-ordinator/promoter. Its not difficult to book bands to appear at a festival. You find out how much each will cost and then, work out how many tickets you need to sell to cover it. Madness would have sold 10000+ on their own The Specials 5000+ The Pogues 2500+ From The Jam 1000+ Belinda Carlisle 100, Modern Romance 100, Aswad 50, Bay city Rollers 150 ...local bands just as many as ASWAD

Local bands are still not showing much, which is a shame. Ok, the quails are ok, but there are still many more with a good following.

@ Mr Spokesman. ".why don't people stop slaggin tho and send them suggestions! I'm sure that will be better." Why? That is why they have a committee to sort all that out, and if you care to look at the 'team', you will see that they have a good mix of age groups, so surely they should know what is available in the area.

Dont deny that mate, but it states their they are volunteers too, all I'm saying is not every one has loads of money, but still want to help others, So they need help too.

Local bands have good followings but they wont pay£20 odd quid to watch them and andwhat they will see has some old farts, who they have never heard of. You need bands that appeal to all ages ...these dont. Heres another one Morrisey. How about Echo and the Bunnymen or even Banarama(live fairly local)

According to today's Gazette, Dawlish Warren is also hosting the free "Exe Fest" music festival this summer. Looking forwarding to finding out the venue and the line-up.

Being free, it will probably be better. A lot more variety and more local bands.

http://www.exe-estuary.org/index/event_calendar/spirit_of_the_exe_-_an_exe-travaganza.htm The date is the 10th July, a Saturday. The Quails are appearing here also, so why pay £25 to see them at Amber Coast (flop) Festival? This is the one to attend.

Bananarama were on the Powederham castle event 2 years back They were dreadful, Paul young was the star he had the whole audience singing and dancing along, eating out of his hand, a real showman

Good call Mark Paul Young , one for the ladies. I hope the festival is a success and becomes an annual event. problem is they have made an appalling choice of acts for the 1st event

Hi If anyone's going to the festival then I'd recommend a band playing on the main stage on Saturday. They're a Johnny Cash tribute band called Ring of Fire and if the crowds turn up then what a treat they're in for. I saw this band a few years ago at the Tartan Heart Festival in Belladrum and they had the place rocking. Here's a link to their video on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02K_j3eVbwQ Hope you get a good crowd and a good wee boost for your town as I've holidayed in that area for many years and will be back again in July with my wife and 9 month old grandson. I'll post a photo of him and if anyone sees us when we're down then say hello as we've always found the people of Dawlish to be very friendly and helpful.
