Tourist industry fears as unseasonable damp deters holidaymakers

Devon's unseasonably cool and wet summer weather is starting to hit tourist businesses in the back pocket.Ice cream parlours and other businesses in Dawlish Warren say the persistent rain is keeping tourists away. This time last year, the resort was packed with visitors, but it currently resembles a ghost town.

Carnival rides near the Warren's seafront were deserted yesterday as summer visitors stayed away or headed for indoor activities.
