Police searching for 'vulnerable' woman, 45

Police launched a search for a woman yesterday after reports that she had not been seen for 24 hours.Officers are concerned for 45-year-old Rhian Higgs' welfare and describe her as vulnerable.

Miss Higgs, who had come to Dawlish on holiday from North Wales, went missing from a campsite in the town at 8.30am on Thursday.

She told family members staying at Lady's Mile Holiday Park, in Exeter Road, Dawlish, that she was going to feed the deer. They contacted police at 7pm that day when she had not returned and it was getting dark.

Police dispatched the force helicopter to search the areas of Powderham where there are deer in the grounds. Officers have also been searching the area on the ground and have been liasing with police in Wales.

A spokesman from Devon and Cornwall police said: "We are very concerned about the woman's welfare."

She is described as white, 5ft 6in, of slim-build and a pale complexion with blonde or naturally light brown hair and dark eyes. She has a dragon tattoo on her upper right arm. She may be driving a silver Ford Mondeo estate, registration S491 LNK.
