Around £30 million will need to be found from local services (countywide) next year on top of the £54.6m reductions they made last year – that’s a reduction of seven per cent.

Yet Teignbridge District Council are promising Dawlish the earth if we sign up to the Neighbourhood Plan and do not stand in the way of their massive housebuilding schemes. Those promises include a range of facilities that are within the remit of DCC, but see how they are strapped for cash!?

There are questions to be asked. DCC are holding a local meeting to discuss where the cuts can be made with local communities. This is ours:-

Dawlish – 6:30pm Monday 17 October
Red Rock Youth Centre, Sandy Lane, Dawlish

I think Rainbow1 that if you read what Flower has written s/he refers to the fact that some of what TDC is saying will happen in the draft Dawlish plan is not under their remit but that of Devon County Council's. In which case how can TDC say such things will happen and especially when Devon County Council are having to cut back even more on expenditure.

Perhaps it isn't Flower that is being thick?

Suggest you turn your question on its head Ranibow1 and then answer it yourself.

In other words - why are you for the draft Neigbourhood Plan as it stands at the moment?

You might like to start a new thread on the subject.

I have no problem with the plan, because, as Rainbow1 points out, I live in Teignmouth. Were I to live in Dawlish, I would have serious problems with it - because it is not a plan at all. It is a vision, glossily presented with pleasant pictures and, no doubt, expensive to produce. Without resources and a schedule, it is no more than a dream - or a sop to persuade voters that action is being taken on their behalf.
