A member of staff has been injured in a night time robbery at a Dawlish holiday park.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at Golden Sands holiday park, Week Lane, Dawlish Warren at 1am on Tuesday morning. It is thought the victim was hit with a 'sharp object', possibly an axe. He is recovering in hospital.

Acting DCI Nick Wilden said: “This would have been a very busy bank holiday weekend with lots of people staying in the area and we want to know if anyone saw anything out of the ordinary or suspicious.

“We are treating this as a very serious incident and we are actively pursuing our enquiries."

Acting DCI Wilden said that the victim in the incident was a member of staff at the holiday park.

He was treated in hospital for serious injuries.

Police cannot confirm what was taken in the incident.
