Don't understand this news item.  I thought the bridge over the Clyst (at Fisher's Bridge Mill) had been open for months.  Well, we've been walking over it, open or not.

I guess the government thinks it can tell us we've never had a nuclear accident in an atomic power plant because the fire was in a military reactor, trying to produce tritium for the H-bomb.  So it doesn't count, does it ?

Marine Parade (near the turn to the Warren).

I guess they don't mean Cirl Buntings.

Very pleased to find that the 'winter timetables' are pretty much the same as summer.  We still have the 11 direct to Torquay, and the B direct via Marsh Barton and the Exe Bridges up Exeter High Street.  Much better than last winter (or the one before etc).

Bird of Prey Eating

Yup, Carer is right: certainly is a Buzzard. They do get hassled a lot by crows, rooks etc. Anyway, wouldn't you eat your picnic in the shade on a day like this ?

" Back to the original subject of Dawlish Warren and open space, does anybody on here actually use the nature reserve or visit the bird hide? " Yes.

And our unique bookshop (though not an internet cafe) has just packed it in after years of trying.

Er h'rm.  Excuse me, but to get back to the original question ... What we need, IMHO, is a better choice of fresh food shops.  Someone already mentioned the fresh fish shop that we lost: we could also do with more choice of butchers', greengrocers' etc. but i'm sure we won't get it.  as @wondering and @wriggler have said, the competition from supermarkets and the www is just too much.

Toilets at Boat Cove closed as well.  You can tell it's July, can't you ?
