Yep, but it's an ideal opportunity to get it done while the line's closed saving more disruption later- plus I'd have thought there were fairly good safety and resilience reasons for doing so too!

That sounds fair enough. Does anyone know - is it being repaired as it was, i.e. with the low section that is impassible at high tide, or are they beefing that bit up a bit and making it taller/thicker?

Dawlish could even end up with two stations Dawlish (main/inland/parkway) and Dawlish (seafront)!

I think it was the "alterations to ground floor layout" bit, I believe they're creating new flats (including the former beer-cellar), but by "altering" the rest of the layout, they're making it suitable for a (small-ish) bar/bistro type premises which one of the (many) supporting documents says somewhere.
