Super Saturday! WOW What a day for Team GB! Gold, Gold and more Gold. Stunning athletics, rowing and cycling but te bit I still can't believe is a Brit won the long jump!!!! I always thought this was a long legged, black athlete sport. Hmmmm ..... white men CAN jump. Proud to be a Brit! Proud to be a Brit? Agree here and add a comment :-D

Just enjoyed an immense Monte Cristo sandwich for brunch and it got me thinking. Much like a line from Gavin & Stacy ..... what are your favourite sandwiches? I have been compiling a list of my favourites and have started formatting recipes of my top 20. The link below will take you to my article on sandwiches, the history of, tidbits about, facts and trivia along with links to all the recipes ...

another recipe recieved, will post that one soon

Hi Ruth -  pyaz tamatar ka raita, certainly is Indian :-)

Dawlish all the way!! Beautiful town, great sea wall walks, stunning river stroll ..... then a train ride to Topsham for the antique shops and the antique market. But a stop at Dawlish is a MUST!!

What is a pasty?
2 Aug 2012

As a professional, doner kebabs always scare me a little. But they had put a new one on the spit when I was in Newton Abbot a while back and boy was it GOOD! (=|:-D

Oh trust me, just as messy :-) A flake is something you will have to look out for at that International Food Market you mentioned in your email :-) This link will take you to an advert from the 80's, the ads have almost a cult status over here. The same music being used almost from the start of the 70's I think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aUTdYsZda8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

RECIPE - pasty
2 Aug 2012

@Indy Ruth - i have started a new article about the facts and fiction in regards to the pasty, that will answer the above and all the other questions you might have :-) http://www.dawlish.com/thread/details/22474

After reading my article and recipe for a pasty, I was asked by an overseas reader what exactly is a pasty? I have written an extra article (see the link below) on the facts, fiction and legends behind the pasty. Hopefully it will stir some debate and other readers will add to it, agree, disagree etc http://www.dawlish.com/article/details/110

Bit of a shame it was at the cost of the Kiwis though, but hey ho ;-)
